Messex Homestead

The Messex Homestead is a classic New England farmhouse that dates back to the 1870s. It has only changed hands twice in the past 150 years before our clients acquired it. Although there were some remnants of the original 1800s home, such as exposed beams, wide-board hardwood floors, and original fireplaces, there were also a series of poor additions and ill-conceived planning. Our design approach was to keep what is original and true to the house’s integrity and remove what’s not while adding desired spaces that complement the original structure. As a result, we were able to renovate the house and integrate it with modern architecture, providing a unique blend of 19th-century charm and 21st-century comforts that perfectly suit the needs and lifestyle of a young family.
